Overview

EXXCEL Project Management has been hired by a national restaurant firm to help the firm define, plan, implement, and evaluate the installation of new production equipment in hundreds of locations throughout the United States.

 

As a project manager at EXXCEL you are both a leader and a team member.  We have team management process call the “Triad” which consists of you as the project management leader, the estimating leader, and the business development leader.  Together you run the project like a small business. The “Triad” has responsibility for all aspects of the project.

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities

  • As the project manager, you will be the day to day leader of the project and will have a staff of 3 to 5 project coordinators as direct reports.  You will provide leadership and structure to the project team.
  • Manage client communications and expectations using collaborative/project management software. (Smartsheet software will be used for this project).
  • Work with the client to clearly define the scope of work and project schedule.
  • Lead project team in creating and managing a list of subcontractors interested in providing bids for the project.
  • Manage efforts of a project team in scheduling and confirming subcontractor visits to the project locations.
  • Solicit, gather and analyze subcontractor proposals; share pricing information and provide recommendations to the client on which subcontractors provide the best value.
  • Confirm price, scope, and schedule with subcontractors.
  • Develop and manage a project schedule that best identifies the functional requirements and timing for each assigned project.
  • Develop and manage an associated risk-management plan and an open-issues log for each assigned project.
  • Coordinate the efforts of the assigned project team to ensure the scope, time, cost and quality of the project are within the client’s expectations.
  • Provide client a monthly update directly on the status of the assigned projects.
  • Take responsibility for all managerial and administrative aspects of the project. This includes project response to client RFP, estimating, scheduling, quality control, progress reports, progress billing, design review and coordination, cost reporting, safety, and proposal preparation.
  • Ensure that an accurate and complete estimate of the project is prepared. Oversee the buyout process to select subcontractors.
  • Communicate effectively with everyone involved in the project.
  • Maintain thorough understanding of the EXXCEL/Owner contract.
  • Oversee the payment request process.
  • Monitor, manage, and control project costs.
  • Analyze and forecast quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
  • Assist project team in bidding projects.
  • Implement applicable safety, EEO, and Affirmative Action programs.

Qualifications

Educaiton / Experience & Attributes

  • 10+ years’ experience as a project manager in the AEC industry (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) or similar experience.
  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree with a construction related major and thus a strong knowledge of construction processes.
  • Ability to use Smartsheet Project Management Software.
  • Very experienced dealing with contracts and subcontractors.
  • Proficient in leading a successful project team, including the development of employees and maintaining and building strong relationships with our clients.
